International Day for Monuments and Sites
April 18 is annually observed as the International Day for Monuments and Sites. This Day was established in 1983 by the Assembly of the International Council for the Protection of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), created by UNESCO. It aims to bring global attention to the need to conserve monuments and sites as our cultural heritage and to “celebrate the diversity of this heritage”. The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) is the advisory body of the UNESCO World Heritage Center and a non-governmental organization that works on preserving and conserving historical and archeological heritage sites worldwide. This significant day is widely celebrated in Azerbaijan.

The Presidential Library is the most outstanding I saw in my visit to Azerbaijan. It’s beautiful and well-organized and well-directed facility.
For five years you have done huge work. I wish you the further prosperity, successes in your undertakings.
Using the Library:
- Azerbaijani and foreign citizens can use the Reading Rooms of the Presidential Library by submitting identification document (identity card or passport, military card).
- All resources on the library's website (e-projects, e-books, bibliographic indexes, information bulletins) can be accessed by Internet users.
- The Lending Section can be used only by the staff of the Administration, the Administrative Department of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, also the subordinate institutions.
